One of the most awesome features of windows 8.1 was that the background of the start screen could be changed. It could be set to be the wallpaper or any other custom image that the user wanted. Unfortunately, windows 8 does not have it. But that is no problem, you can always rely on third party software! So here I present this awesome software which will make your start screen background transparent or translucent, or will allow you to set another custom image.
NOTE: To make your start screen look like mine, do the following -
1) Download this Theme of wallpapers (9 mb)
2) Open the software and check the "Use desktop wallpaper" and also check the "Gaussian Blur" boxes. Set the blur value to 4.
This is what my start screen looks like -
REMEMBER :
If you use a wallpaper theme or a single wallpaper downloaded from microsoft, then the start screen will just have the wallpaper image as a background. But if you have another wallpaper downloaded from somewhere else, your icons will also appear in the start screen which makes it look very bad. So I recommend using themes downloaded from the microsoft website or using preloaded wallpapers only. You can uncheck the " use desktop wallpaper" box and load the image that you have set as wallpaper separately if you do not want the icons to appear.
